The 10th edition of OmniBSIC Bank’s quarterly health walk has drawn thousands of energetic patrons from all over the capital, reaffirming its commitment to promoting wellness, social connection and community empowerment among staff, customers and the general public.

The exercise, which kicked off around 6:00 am on Saturday at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, through UGBS to UPSA, ARS Roundabout, East Legon-American House to Bawalashie, Okponglo and back to the stadium, has emerged as the best of all the editions so far, drawing not just enthusiastic youthful energies but corporate partners ranging from insurance companies, food and beverage producers, ‘Made-in-Ghana’ brands, automobile dealers and start-up businesses, among others.

The event has evolved not only into a leading destination for keeping fit but also into a hub for economic activities, with exhibitors lined up around the stadium area, generating sales throughout the day.

Beyond the brass band musical performances from the Ghana Prisons Service Band that accompanied the about 10km walk, this 10th edition also featured a surprise musical performance from the legendary self-acclaimed African Dancehall King, Samini.

The High-Grade Family boss delivered an energetic performance to boost morale during the aerobic exercise after the walk.

The OmniBSIC Health Walk, which started as an in-house exercise programme, has evolved into one of the nation’s most consistent corporate wellness events held quarterly, with each edition growing bigger than the last.

The OmniBSIC Bank Ghana Secretary, Head of Legal & Recovery Departments and Chairperson of the Health Walk Committee, Akyaa Addo-Kuffour, noted that the steady rise in participation had surpassed expectations; nonetheless, an indication of the strong appeal of the brand to the public backed by excellent customer experience and tailored products.
“This 10th edition has been the best. I am not sure there have been any health walks of this magnitude in this country… Even though this started post-COVID-19 to help our staff who sit for long hours in the office to remain active, we decided not to leave it to only staff – and the numbers here show it’s the right decision,” she said.

She added that the committee will analyse the success chalked with this 10th edition and find ways to even make it better in the next edition. “We look forward to additional features that will make it even bigger, better and more engaging.”

OmniBSIC Bank, formed through the merger of the erstwhile OmniBank and Sahel Sahara Bank under the Bank of Ghana’s 2017 consolidation programme, operates 40 branches nationwide. Headquartered at Airport City in Accra, the bank has established itself as one of Ghana’s fastest-growing financial institutions, offering a full range of corporate, SME and retail banking services.
Touching on banking operations, the Head of Legal & Recovery Departments emphasised that the brand’s customer service experience is second to none, a factor that has driven its steady growth since 2017 to date.
“The regulator, Bank of Ghana (BoG), has always been proactive with different rules that have some effect on banking, but we will always find a way to overcome the challenges,” she said.
The Administrator of the Minerals Development Fund (MDF), a partner institution to the health walk exercise, Dr. Louisa Hannah Bissue, commended OmniBSIC, which is an indigenous bank, for doing so well in making sure the public does not just bank with them but remains healthy in the process.
“For us MDF staff, it’s a good experience to be here; and we will continue to remain a part of these exercises over and over again. It has been two hours of keeping fit, networking and strengthening relationships. We are excited to be here,” she said.

She added that MDF is established for redressing the negative impact of mining on local communities, and corporate partnerships like the one with OmniBSIC Bank are ways of lobbying and bringing on board these entities to channel their corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives into helping some of these communities get access to social amenities.
Interaction with participants highlights a sense of satisfaction in meeting their workout demands and fuelling sustainable, healthy living, as the saying goes: “You only live once (YOLO)”. Some have expressed eagerness to welcome the 11th edition in the second quarter of 2026.
Members of the East-Legon Executive Club were represented in their numbers, with notable personalities such as former Black Stars Captain Samuel Osei Kuffour and Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong, a distinguished entrepreneur.
