The African Games climaxed in some spectacular fashion as fans trooped in number to observe the last showpiece of what has been a wonderful and exciting game to remember. Ghana promised a spectacular African Games and delivered on their word.
The likes of Stonebwoy, Wiyaala, Innoss’B, Stanley Enow, and Gabon’s Emma’a erupted the stadium with their electrifying performances at the closing ceremony, catching the crowd to jump on the positive energy being delivered after 3 weeks of solid sporting events in Accra and Cape Coast.
Euphoria and socialisation were two key elements showcased in the repertoire of the African Games. Different cultures, foods, and languages were exhibited in the 13th edition of the African Games, as Accra was put on the spotlight as the city of sports, catching attention across the world.
Ghana hosting this wonderful showpiece opened up the unity in sports as the majority of Ghanaians, both sports lovers and non-sports lovers, showcased a common understanding of following and supporting the African Games. Fans filled all nine venues, pouring out their support for the event.
The 13th edition of the African Games sparked some momentum in the athletes as every one of them pulled up scintillating performances, adding some unique touch to the euphoria of the event which began on Friday, March 8, 2024.
With a peculiar focus on Ghana’s record in the African Games since it came into play, team Ghana recorded its highest medal count tally of 68 (19 gold, 29 silver, and 20 bronze) since winning 27 at the 1973 edition in Nigeria, accumulating 7 gold, 7 silver, and 13 bronze.
