A total number of 1,901 Junior High School (JHS)JHS candidates are expected to take part in the 2020 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region.

The number represents 961 males and 940 females registered to sit the exams in the ten(10) examination centers across the Municipality.

1,483 of the figure represents candidates from public schools whilst the remaining 418 represents candidates from the various private schools across the Municipality.

This was disclosed by the Kintampo North Municipal Public Relations Officer of the Ghana education Service (GES), Mr. Isaac Sosito in an interview with Adams Wumpini of GBC- Radio Kintampo.

Mr. Sosito further revealed that the ten (10) examination centers represent an increase by three from the seven (7) centers where the 2019 BECE took place.

Officials engaged by WAEC to supervise the exams in the Municipality, according to Mr. Sosito, comprises of sixty-six (66) invigilators, ten (10) supervisors, and three (3) assistant supervisors.

He indicated that all preparations are set as examination materials, including answer Booklets, Pencils, question papers and others arrived in time.

According to him, except for the question papers that arrived Sunday evening ( the day before the exams), all other necessary examination materials meant for the ten examination centers arrived two weeks ago.

He added that arrangements have been put in place to ensure that both candidates, invigilators supervisors and all stakeholders abide by the corvid-19 safety protocols saying that all students have been provided with nose masks and sanitizers and advised that they come along with them for their own safety.

Touching on examination malpractices, Mr. Sosito admonished both invigilators and candidates exhibit good behaviors and avoid anything that would lead them to cheating during the exams.

A visit by Kintampo Radio to some Examination centers Sunday evening revealed that all arrangements were made  awaiting Monday’s kick off.

Some invigilators and students around said they were fully prepared for the exams.
