The presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has said Ghana will win and peace will reign in the 2024 general elections.
He expressed optimism that Ghana will come out of this election stronger.
Dr Bawumia further stated that Ghana has been here before and can prove again that the country is a shining example and a resilient democracy.
His plea to everybody involved in the electoral process including candidates, parties, Elecet0ral Commission, media and the general public “is to take responsibility for ensuring peace and harmony seriously.”
He said these during the signing of the peace pact in Accra on Thursday, November 28.
Dr Bawumia added “The stakes are always high but we have never turned our back on democracy because that is the path we have chosen, it is the way to go. Every election presents an opportunity to re-affirm our commitment to the constitution and the rule of law.”
Ahead of the signing ceremony, the Chairman of the National Peace Council, Rev. Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi, told Accra-based Citi FM “So far, we believe that all the parties will be there.
“We have commitments for all of them. We have sent them a copy of the pact for them to study if they have any comments to come back, and so far, we have not had any adverse reactions from any of the parties.”
“And so right now what we are doing is putting down appropriations for the various logistics and the things that need to be done for the signing of the pact.”
