Ghana coach Otto Addo has expressed disappointment over his team’s failure to capitalize on key second-half opportunities in their 1-1 draw against Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The match took place at the Municipal Stadium in Berkane on Monday afternoon.
Reflecting on the game, Addo acknowledged his team’s control in the second half but lamented the missed chances.
Also in the second half we changed some positions and the buildup and also some restrictions to seize moments for our wingers. We had a different set up in the midfield, so it was good. In the second half we controlled them; we created a lot of chances which we didn’t use. At the end, these kind of games are like this,” he told Ghana FA Communications.
“There are no cheap teams, every team can play and Niger also did well, especially in their counter attacks. But I am very, very disappointed with the way we allowed our goals,” he added.
Alidu Seidu opened the scoring for Ghana with a powerful strike in the 44th minute, assisted by Mohammed Kudus. However, Niger equalized late in the game through Oumar Sako, assisted by Moussa Kassa Moudou.
After losing 1-0 to Angola in their first Group F match, Ghana now aims to recover in their upcoming doubleheader against Sudan as they push for qualification.
