The head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo has opened up on what caused Ghana to drop points in the must-win game against Niger on Monday.
The Ghana male senior national team yesterday played against Niger in Morocco in their second Group F showdown in the qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON ) qualifiers.
The Black Stars went into the game needing a win to bounce back from the defeat to Angola last Thursday.
However, Niger put on a resilient performance to force a draw with Ghana at the end of the 90 minutes.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Ghana coach Otto Addo admitted Niger played well, especially with their counter-attacks.
This he believes helped the side to avoid a defeat to the Black Stars.
“Also in the second half, we changed some positions and the buildup and also some restrictions to seize moments for our wingers. We had a different set-up in the midfield, so it was good. In the second half we controlled them; we created a lot of chances that we didn’t use.
“At the end, these kind of games are like this. There are no cheap teams, every team can play and Niger also did well, especially in their counterattacks. But I am very, very disappointed with the way we allowed our goals,” Coach Otto Addo said.
