The government has announced plans to establish a Film Fund aimed at revitalising Ghana’s film industry, including the popular Kumawood sector.
Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson revealed this during the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
He said the fund will provide financial and technical support to filmmakers and production houses, enhance training and capacity-building, and help promote Ghanaian films on both local and international platforms.
According to Dr. Forson, the initiative underscores government’s commitment to harnessing the creative economy as a source of employment and cultural preservation.
He also said the creative industry is set to receive a major financial boost in 2026 with the establishment of a Creative Arts Fund.
