Former Vice President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), George Afriyie beleives Black Stars can cause an upset against England if the team get their rhythm right and prepares well.The West African country will face the European side in their second Group L game ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico this summer.Speaking to Graphic Sports, Mr Afriyie stressed that he remains convinced that the Black Stars will beat Panama in their opener but beleives the four-time African champions can cause an upset against Thomas Tuchel’s side if they get their rhythm right.I dont see it as an easy game for us, but if we get our rhythm right, everything is well in camp, the team is well prepared physically, psychologically and motivationally, and the boys are in the right frame of mind when they step onto the pitch, they can cause an upset against England,” he said.The Black Stars, who are making their fifth appearance at the tournament,will kick off their campaign against Panama on June 17, face England on June 23, and conclude the group stage against Croatia on June 27.Preparations include a March training camp featuring friendlies against Austria and Germany, followed by a game againstMexico in May, before wrapping their preparation against Wales on June 2. Throughout the tournament, Ghana will be based at Bryant University in the United States.After exiting at the group stage in both 2014 and 2022, the team will be aiming for a stronger, more competitive performance in North America.
