David Adjei Frimpong, popularly known as MC Portfolio, has disclosed that he turned down multiple offers of appreciation from dancehall star Stonebwoy.
The MC was instrumental in amplifying Stonebwoy’s works ahead of the 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), contributing to Stonebwoy’s win as Artiste of the Year last year.
Speaking to Ghana Weekend’s Fiifi Annan, Portfolio noted that Stonebwoy’s team, including his wife and management, extended gestures he declined, emphasising that the 60-second acknowledgment Stonebwoy gave him on stage during the awards was more valuable than any material offer, boosting his career significantly.
He said that his advocacy for Stonebwoy’s 2024 Artiste of the Year win was driven by passion, not expectation of reward.
“Stonebwoy, at a point in time, acknowledged that I spoke with facts. He came out to let people know the number of times he offered appreciation that I didn’t take because I did it from my heart,” he said.
Responding to whether or not he left the BHIM camp to join King Paluta’s camp this year because of Stonebwoy’s failure to appoint him as a lead PR, the MC revealed that there was no such proposal from Stonebwoy and his team.
