The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that it has started the 2024 Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) for 2024 BECE candidates.

The Service in a statement on Monday, October 28 said the selection process is still ongoing as some 94 percent representing 521,088 students have been placed in schools.

Out of the 563,339 results received from WAEC, GES said 553,155 candidates qualified for school placement.

Out of the qualified candidates, a total of 447,698 representing 80.93% automatically received placement in one of the school choices.

However, 104,918 candidates who qualified could not be matched to any choice of school.

GES said 73,390 of these qualified candidates, that is 13.27% have been given schools similar to those they selected.

These students are at freedom to accept or reject the recommended schools that have been given to them. Students who reject the schools can select a school of their choice from the Self-placement platform.

“The students who were not placed must visit the self-placement platform portal to select a school of their choice. Schools selected on the self-placement portal can be changed as many times as the candidate wishes until they enrol in a school,” the statement noted.

GES further cautioned parents and guardians against the payment of monies to individuals who may approach them for placement into certain schools.

Reporting Date

Schools will begin orientation for students on October 30 and commence academic work by November 7, 2024.
