Former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane opened up about his relationship with Mohamed Salah during their time at Anfield in a candid conversation with Rio Ferdinand on his podcast. While fans often portrayed them as rivals, Mane insists the reality behind the scenes was very different.Great player. Good player. Great player, Mane said of Salah, adding that the supposed rivalry wasnt a negative thing. Im someone who is quiet, but Im friendly with everybody in the team. Mo is also a very nice guy.Mane admitted that tensions sometimes flared on the pitch, especially when passes didnt come his way. He recalled a game against Burnley when he was visibly frustrated because Salah didnt pass the ball to him. I was really, really angry after the game, Mane admitted. However, Salah approached him the following day to clear the air.He said, You think I didnt want to pass you? I just got the ball, I want to shoot. I have nothing against you, Mane recalled. I said, No, dont worry. It passed, it passed. Since that day, we became even closer. As a striker, sometimes when Mo sees the ball, he doesnt see anyone else. Its not personal; he just wants to score, he said. Mane added that he tried to support Salahs goal-scoring ambitions, offering to help him achieve top scorer status whenever possible.Mane left Liverpool in 2022 to join Bayern Munich before moving to Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, while Salah is still with Liverpool, playing a key role in their Premier League title success last season.
