A military helicopter has reportedly crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, with initial reports suggesting that some passengers on board may have been burnt to death.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, but details remain limited as emergency teams rush to the scene.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the crash or released the identities of those involved.

In a brief statement, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) disclosed that the helicopter — identified as a Z-9 aircraft — went off radar shortly after taking off on Wednesday morning. It was en route to Obuasi when communication was lost.

The GAF confirmed that efforts are ongoing to locate the missing helicopter and restore contact.

Preliminary reports indicate that eight individuals were on board, including three crew members and five passengers. However, a full passenger manifest has yet to be made public.

The Ghana Armed Forces, together with other emergency and investigative agencies, are expected to provide further details as the situation unfolds.
