The Odompem Adwenadze Royal Family in Abura Dunkwa in the Central Region has destooled Nana Obo Kwefuah VIII as the Gyasehene of the town following allegations of misconduct.
According to the royal family, the decision was taken after it emerged that the traditional leader was is sectretly invloved in romantic relationship with a fetish priestess, a situation they described as inappropriate for someone occupying such a revered traditional position.
Sources close to the palace indicated that the secret relationship raised serious concerns among elders and members of the royal family.
They claim the situation begun to affect Nana Obo Kwefuah VIII’s commitment to his responsibilities as Gyasehene.
The royal family further alleged that he had neglected important duties associated with the stool and had, at times, abandoned key responsibilities expected of him as a traditional leader.
Following deliberations, the Odompem Adwenadze Royal Family announced his removal from the stool and officially destooled him as the Gyasehene of Abura Dunkwa.
The family has also urged members of the public to take note of the decision and to immediately cease recognising Nana Obo Kwefuah VIII as the Gyasehene.
Traditional authorities in the area emphasised the importance of upholding the values, discipline and conduct expected of individuals who occupy positions within the chieftaincy institution.
They noted that the decision was necessary to protect the integrity of the stool and maintain respect for the customs and traditions of Abura Dunkwa in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese District.
