The Africa Trade Academy (ATA) celebrated a historic maiden graduation of its inaugural class from the FITT Diploma in International Trade.
In a ceremony , 25 senior business executives from across the continent transitioned from scholars to leaders, ready to shape the future of African commerce.
The event commenced with a dignified academic procession led by the esteemed chair, Naa Alhaji Seidu Daari giving way for a dynamic traditional dance ensemble from Northern Ghana.
ATA’s Dean, Mr. Dode Seidu, welcomed the assembly with palpable excitement saying “Today is a testament to our collective commitment to excellence and a brighter economic future for Africa,” he remarked, his voice reflecting the significance of the milestone.
He highlighted the Academy’s foundational partnership with the Forum for International Trade Training (FITT) as more than an alliance; it is a shared mission to cultivate the visionary leaders Africa’s trade landscape urgently requires.
The keynote address by Mr. Ziad Hamoui, National President of Borderless Alliance, elevated the ceremony from celebration to a powerful call to action. He positioned the graduates as the essential catalysts for continental progress.
“Trade training is not peripheral; it is the very heartbeat of Africa’s integration,” Mr. Hamoui asserted. His message was both a challenge and a charge: “You now carry the responsibility to translate agreements into action, rules into results, and collective ambition into tangible, cross-border commerce,” he said.
He inspired the cohort to become reformers and humanisers of trade, emphasising that the success of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) depends on their courage to challenge inefficiencies and break down barriers, thereby unlocking unparalleled growth and resilience.
The emotional core of the ceremony shone through as graduate representatives from Ghana, Togo, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and the Democratic Republic of Congo took the stage. Their reflections were not simply reviews of curriculum, but testimonies of personal and professional transformation.
They spoke of a rigorous journey that was equally enriching, leaving them equipped not just with knowledge, but with renewed confidence and a powerful toolkit to navigate the complexities of global trade.
The presentation of certificates by the Dean, keynote speaker, and Advisory Board was more than a formal act; it was a symbolic passing of the torch to a new generation of Africa’s trade and economic architects and geniuses.
With the graduation of this pioneering class, the Africa Trade Academy reaffirms its vital role as an engine of expertise and empowerment.
ATA has announced that the next cohort for the FITT Diploma in International Trade will commence on February 23, 2026.
