African football legends paved the way for us – Mohammed Kudus

Call us

Ghana international, Mohammed Kudus credits the trailblazing performances of former African players on the global stage for paving the way for the current generation.

African players are increasingly making their mark on the European football scene.

Kudus, who made a move to the Premier League last summer with West Ham United from Ajax on a five-year deal, has been enjoying the spotlight.

He acknowledges the influence of past African players in opening doors for the current crop.

Speaking to the Premier League YouTube channel, the 23-year-old emphasized the importance of African players’ historical contributions.

“All the guys that have been here as African players have paved the way for us to get the opportunity to get here,” he said.

“So my main goal and responsibility is also to keep putting light on where I’m from and then making scouts and agents believe that there are even more players better than me from Africa.”

Kudus aims to continue shining a light on African talent, hoping to convince scouts and agents that there are even more talented players from Africa waiting for their chance.

In his debut season for West Ham United, Kudus has scored 13 goals in 43 appearances.
