The National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Salam Mustapha, has criticised Guinness World Records contender Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, calling her untruthful and ungrateful for downplaying the support she received from former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia during her first sing-a-thon attempt.

During an interview on Accra FM, Afua Asantewaa refuted claims that Dr. Bawumia gifted her cash, a car, or a house.

She maintained that the only thing she received from the former Vice President was medication for her sore throat.

However, Salam Mustapha disputed her assertion in a Facebook post, stating that he personally handed over GH¢20,000 to her husband and father on behalf of the former Vice President.

He disclosed that Bawumia’s support extended beyond financial assistance, as food and drinks were also donated to her team.

“This lady is not being truthful and quite ungrateful. In her first sing-a-thon attempt here in Accra, aside Dr. Bawumia visiting her, which I played a role with Sammi Awuku and Socrates, the Vice President donated 20,000 cash, packs of papaye food, bottled water and soft drinks to her team. I personally did the donation on behalf of Dr. Bawumia to her husband and father.”

Salam added that following the event, Afua Asantewaa and her family visited Bawumia to express their gratitude, and in response, he sponsored a vacation for her at Royal Senchi.

“Furthermore, after the event, she and her family came to thank the vice president and he further paid for a vacation for her at senchi. So, why the falsehood? We all supported her because we saw a young Ghanaian lady trying to make a mark for herself and challenge the world. I hope she doesn’t repeat this negative narrative again.”
