Ghanaian media personality, AJ Sarpong, has lost her father, Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong, the Paramount Chief of the Asante Akyem Agogo Traditional Area.
According to reports, the respected traditional ruler passed away a few days ago at the age of 88 after battling health challenges. His passing marks the end of a long and impactful life dedicated to public service, leadership, and the development of his community.
AJ Sarpong took to Instagram on Friday, March 27,2026, to share the sad news in a subtle but emotional way. She posted photos of herself with her parents, alongside images of her late father, with the caption: “Always and forever daddy’s girl.” Though brief, the message reflected her deep bond with him.

Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong was widely known for his contributions both in traditional leadership and national governance. He ascended the stool as Omanhene of the Agogo Traditional Area in 1976 at the age of 38, following the passing of his uncle, Nana Kwaku Duah. His installation took place at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, where he swore the oath of allegiance before the Asantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II.
