President Nana Akufo-Addo has officially invited President-elect John Mahama to Jubilee House for a meeting on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, to initiate the transition process.

This follows the declaration of the 2024 Presidential Election results by the Electoral Commission Chair, Jean Mensa.

In a press release from the Presidency, President Akufo-Addo congratulated the President-elect on his “decisive victory” and pledged to ensure a smooth handover of power on January 7, 2025.

“I look forward to working with the President-elect and his team to realise this goal,” the President stated, reaffirming his commitment to a peaceful and seamless transfer of power.

The President acknowledged the efforts of the Electoral Commission (EC), led by Mrs. Jean Mensa, and praised the Ghanaian people for their active participation in the democratic process.

The invitation to Jubilee House underscores the spirit of collaboration that the President stressed in the press release.
By initiating the transition process early, he aims to maintain Ghana’s reputation as a model of democratic governance in Africa.

“I remain committed to the principles of good governance and a peaceful transition that will further strengthen Ghana’s reputation as a beacon of democracy in Africa,” he affirmed.

As the transition period begins, the meeting on December 11 will set the framework for a cooperative effort between the outgoing administration and the incoming government.

President Akufo-Addo expressed optimism about the process, noting its importance in ensuring stability and continuity for the nation.

“May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong,” the President concluded.
