Kotoko striker Albert Amoah has publicly spoken for the first time since the departure of Karim Zito from the club.
The 24-year-old recently rejoined Kotoko after his move to Libyan side Al-Ahly Benghazi hit the snag and started on a fine form under Zito scoring twice in 4 games.
Wide-spread speculations have linked some players in the squad to the departure of the former Dreams FC coach who also played for the Porcupine Warriors in the 90s.
Zito resigned from his role as head coach after losing 4-2 on penalties to Aduana FC in the MTN FA Cup round of 16.
Amoah has told Joe Lakka on Kumasi-based Kessben FM that players had no hand in the departure of Zito.
“No player wanted Karim Zito out before he resigned. Such speculations should be disregarded. We were actually looking forward to using Sunday’s game against Hearts of Oak to make things right but what happened happened,” he said.
Kotoko’s IMC appointed Prince Owusu in an acting capacity however scores of irate fans chased him away from the club’s Adako Jachie Complex on Wednesday, leaving Hamza Obeng to hold Wednesday’s training session.
