Anijie Global Foundation, as part of its yearly programmes, embarked on a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outreach at Jubilee Academy in Ashaiman.

This was to enlighten the young people on the SDGs, as well as educate them on how young people can be key drivers to the achievement of the 2030 agenda.

Speaking at the outreach on Friday, the founder of Anijie Global Foundation, Ms. Maudlyn Akosua Awuku, indicated that the students are the future of this country and must know how relevant the SDGs are in their day-to-day activities from a young age.

This, she believes, will build their capacity in fostering the achievement of these ambitious goals.

“We need to spread the SDGs from the grassroots When students learn about these goals, they will begin to appreciate the things around them and have the desire to preserve them. These goals are ambitious, but together, with every little contribution, it can be achieved”. Ms. Awuku noted.

In a panel discussion, on the theme for the day, students noted the lessons they garnered from the SDG outreach.

They said that the outreach was timely as they had no idea about the SDGs until a week ago.

The students agreed to foster the implementation of these goals in Jubilee Academy with the help of the teachers.

“As the school prefect of my school, I will make sure I am an inspiration to people in my community and school when it comes to cleanliness and keeping my surroundings clean. With this I can achieve the SDG goal 6 in my own small way”

The headmaster of Jubilee Academy, Mr. Stephen Mensah thanked Anijie Global Foundation for their role in bringing the Sustainable Development Goals to the school.

He commended the Anijie Global team for their good work and encouraged them to do same in other schools and communities which would go a long way to create awareness since the Global goals are part of everyone’s daily activities.

The event included various activities such as a drama by students from Jubilee Academy on clean water and sanitation.

The team also donated some books, veronica buckets and dustbins to the school with the aim of instilling good water and sanitation practices as indicated in the SDGs 4 and 6 respectively.

Anijie Global Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organization with focus on building capacity, skills and resources for young people, women and children.

It aims at providing the enabling environment to inspire, educate, celebrate and advance current and future youth and corporate leaders to have a broad community impacting and supporting global priorities. The SDG outreach in Ashiaman was its maiden educational festival.
