Apesua Community SHS sends SOS to government, philanthropists and NGOs

The Headmaster of Apesua Community Senior High School, APSEC, in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region, Mr. Robert Vincent Oduro has made a passionate appeal to the government, stakeholders, benevolent organizations, philanthropists, and NGOs to come to their aid to help develop the school.

He reiterated that with all the infrastructural facilities as E-Block Community School, the school still lacks teaching and learning materials to enhance effective teaching and learning.

Mr. Oduro made the appeal during the Maiden Anniversary and Fundraising towards the Development of the School. 

The Headmaster of APSEC, Mr. Robert Vincent Oduro giving his address noted that the school management conceived the idea to celebrate the maiden anniversary of the school to sell out the challenges confronting the school. He revealed lack of Pickup vehicle for the Headmaster for administrative purposes, school bus to transport students, teachers’ tables and chairs, marker boards, school desks, and laboratory equipment as challenges affecting teaching and learning in the school.

The Guest Speaker, who is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Environment and Sustainable Development, UESD, Somanya, Professor Eric Nyarko-Sampson speaking on the theme “Effective Running of Community Day Schools, the Role of Stakeholders amidst Free SHS Policy”, encouraged all stakeholders to play their role effectively to help develop the school. Prof. Nyarko-Sampson urged the Apesua community to own the school to ensure that the school progress to become a Grade A school in the Eastern region.

The Special Guest of Honour and the Konor of Yilo Krobo Traditional Area, Oklepeme Nuer Anorbaah Sasraku, commended the Headmaster for bringing the school this far.

He further commended both the past and present government for establishing the school on his land, and however,  noted that the progress of the school lies on the shoulders of all stakeholders on the Kroboland and charged everyone to play their role efficiently to help the school become one of the greatest schools in the region.

The Member of Parliament for Yilo Krobo, Mr. Albert Tetteh Nyarkotey promised the school five computers and also donated a cash amount of four thousand five hundred cedis to the school.

The Aspiring Member of Parliament on the ticket of NPP, Dr. Richard Twum Barima stated that the issue of who started the school and who completed should not be anything to debate but rather everyone should come on board to support the school to enhance effective teaching and learning in the school. He also donated a cash amount of six thousand to the school and assured the school of his continuous support.The Apesua Community Senior High School, APSEC, is one of the E-Block Schools across the country, located in the Yilo Krobo Municipality of the Eastern Region.

Some students of the School

The school which was completed but abandoned for years got commissioned three academic years ago to commence admitting students.

The school, which started with 230 students and 12 staff, can now boast of 565 students, 48 teaching staff and eight non-teaching staff. It started offering four programmes which include Business, Visual Arts, General Arts and Home Economics for the first and second academic year, however, General Agriculture has been added this academic year and next academic year General Science will also be added.
