The President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC), Apostle Eric Nyamekye urged all stakeholders and political parties to prioritize the peace and well-being of Ghanaians as the country approaches the 2024 general elections.

Apostle Nyamekye emphasized that achieving a peaceful election will require sacrifices, compromises, and concessions. He noted that this endeavor will demand intentional efforts and thoughtful actions from all meaningful stakeholders in the nation.

“Admittedly, elections often bring about tension, largely due to the vested interests at stake. However, as already indicated, it is crucial to prioritize the peace and well-being of our citizens in every election.

“Achieving this will require sacrifices, compromises and concessions. It will demand intentional efforts and thoughtful action by all meaningful stakeholders of the land.” He said.

The 2024 Peace Campaign under the theme “Let Peace Prevail” focused on promoting peace and conflict resolution during and after the election. The campaign was to encourage individuals, communities, institutions, and political players to work together for a common goal. Elections are civic responsibilities and must not divide the country.

Politicians are urged to embark on issue-based campaigns and avoid hate speeches. There must be respect for people’s choices for peace to continue to reign. The event was attended by the clergy, security agencies, youth groups, and members of the various political parties. There was a solemn plea for an end to the ongoing conflict in Bawku.
