The latest update to the iPhone’s operating system adds a sports section to Apple News and a new way to celebrate Pride Month in June.
Apple’s latest iPhone update, iOS 16.5 is available now to all smartphone owners. The tech giant also rolled out similar software updates for the iPad and Apple Watch.
In March, Apple released iOS 16.4, which introduced 21 new emoji including the shaking face, donkey, moose and jellyfish.
The update also added notifications for web apps added to the home screen, and a new accessibility setting allowing users to automatically dim video when flashes of light or strobe effects are detected.
What features will iOS 16.5 include?
Apple News users will have another way to keep up with Sports coverage. The app will include a Sports tab for quick access to stories, scores and other information for readers’ favorite teams and leagues. The tab will also feature cards leading viewers to game pages where they can learn more about a specific sporting event.
Owners of the iPhone will get a new Pride Celebration wallpaper for lock screens to commemorate Pride Month. Other updates include fixing an issue where the phone’s Spotlight search feature becomes unresponsive and an issue where the Screen Time feature resets or fails to sync with other devices.
As with previous iOS updates, iOS 16.5 includes several security updates.
