Legon Cities new center-forward, Asamoah Gyan, has downplayed the title contenders tag associated with the club after his signing, saying the team needs to play together for some time.

Gyan, 34, joined the Royals in a mega one-year deal that sealed his return to the Ghana Premier League after 17-years, since he left Liberty Professionals to join Italian side, Udinese.

The Black Stars General Captain says the management of Legon Cities have added players they think can help the course of the club, and will need to play together before talking about winning the league.

“Saying you can challenge for the league is very easy. You can purchase all the best players in the world, but without knowing what you like, we cannot be successful,” he told the media after his second training session with the team yesterday.

“We have to play some matches before we will know whether or not we can win the league,” the former Sunderland forward added.

“The most important thing is that management are doing their best, because they’ve signed players they think can help the progress of the team,” he concluded.

The Ghana all-time top scorer, with 51 goals, started training with his new teammates as he tries to get back into shape for the new season.
