National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has revealed that the late Samuel Sarpong’s appointment letter as Board Chairman of the Cocoa Processing Company was ready on the morning of the helicopter crash, even before he left Accra for Obuasi.

According to the NDC Chairman, the late Dr. Sarpong sacrificed his life for him, as he, Asiedu Nketiah, was initially scheduled for the trip but had to cancel due to his busy schedule.

During a visit to commiserate with the bereaved family at Juabeng in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Nketiah broke down in tears as he recounted his encounters with the late Sarpong during the country’s revolutionary days.

He described the late Sarpong as a loyal friend who served both the NDC and Ghana wholeheartedly.

Mr. Nketiah also spoke about how the late Sarpong supported his political career when he contested for the positions of the party’s General Secretary and later National Chairman.

He pledged the government’s and the party’s support for the families of the eight people who died in the helicopter crash.
