The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged its supporters to remain calm and avoid premature celebrations as the collation of results for the 2024 general elections continues nationwide. The party emphasized the need for vigilance to protect the integrity of the electoral process.

Speaking at a press briefing, NDC Communications Director Sammy Gyamfi called on all party members to play their part in ensuring transparency at this crucial stage. “Your votes have been cast, counted, and declared at the polling stations. Now, it is your responsibility to protect those votes during the constituency collation process,” he said.

He urged supporters to make their way to constituency collation centres and actively monitor proceedings. “If you were at the polling station during the declaration of votes, you should now be following the ballot boxes and electoral materials to the Electoral Commission’s collation centre. For those who were not present earlier, this is the time to join in safeguarding the process,” he added.

Sammy Gyamfi also reminded supporters to hold off on celebrations until results are officially announced. “Jubilation must wait until the Electoral Commission declares the results at the collation centres. This stage is critical. Results forms must be duly filled, signed by party agents, and copies secured before we celebrate,” he emphasized.

He further called on party agents and representatives to stay alert, report any irregularities, and ensure fairness during the collation process.

The NDC’s statement comes amidst heightened anticipation, with preliminary results trickling in from various polling stations. “You only jubilate after the declarations of the results by the EC at the collation centre,” Gyamfi concluded.
