Ghanaian entrepreneur and CEO of Ticket Ghana Ltd., Basil David Anthony, participated in the inaugural African MRO Conference 2026, held at the Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, late last month under the theme ‘Building Africa’s Sustainable MRO Ecosystem’.

The landmark conference, organised by the African Airlines Association (AFRAA) in collaboration with leading industry institutions including Ethiopian Airlines MRO, Kenya Airways MRO, and South African Airways Technical, brought together over 300 aviation leaders, regulators, and global service providers to advance Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities across the African aviation sector.

Speaking on the sidelines of the conference, Basil emphasised the importance of building a sustainable and self-reliant aviation ecosystem in Africa, highlighting the need for stronger collaboration between operators, technical partners, and policymakers.

“Africa’s aviation future depends not only on connectivity, but also on our ability to build strong technical and operational foundations within the continent. Events like this create the platform to align stakeholders and drive that vision forward,” he stated.

During the conference, Basil engaged in high-level B2B meetings with airlines, MRO providers, and aviation stakeholders, exploring opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and industry alignment.

The conference also featured technical sessions, industry panels, and facility tours at Ethiopian MRO, providing participants with valuable insights into emerging technologies, workforce development, and supply chain resilience across Africa’s aviation ecosystem.

As Africa continues to position itself for increased global connectivity, Basil’s participation reflects a growing commitment from African entrepreneurs to contribute to thought leadership, collaboration, and the long-term development of the continent’s aviation industry.
