Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Vice-President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, has committed to completing all 111 hospitals currently at various stages of construction should he win the December 7 general elections.

This initiative is expected to create approximately 72,000 jobs in the health sector, helping to reduce youth unemployment in the country.

Addressing a nationwide youth connect programme at the Borteyman Sports Complex, which was virtually connected to all 16 regions on Sunday, 3rd November 2024, the Vice-President highlighted that completing these projects is a key part of his policy to expand public infrastructure as President.

Dr. Bawumia noted that Agenda 111 is one of the initiatives he championed as Vice-President, which he believes will significantly impact the lives of Ghanaians.
He urged the youth to have confidence in his leadership and support him in the upcoming elections.

“I believe that as Vice-President, the policies I have championed or initiated have impacted or will impact the lives of virtually every Ghanaian,” he said.

“These include the Ghana Card, Digital Address System, Mobile Money Interoperability, Agenda 111, E-Pharmacy, Ghana.gov, One Constituency, One Ambulance, Zongo Development Fund, Paperless Ports, Motor Insurance Database, NHIS membership renewal on mobile phones, Ghana Card number as TIN, SSNIT and NHIS numbers, Zipline drone deliveries, Gold for Oil, and the Gold Purchase Program.

Through the successful implementation of these policies, I have proven to be a problem-solver and a promise keeper,” he said.

He emphasized that although he has not yet served as President, he has effectively championed these policies, and if given the opportunity, would transform governance in Ghana.

“I am presenting myself to you for the first time to ask for your precious vote to serve as your President and to continue the development agenda of the NPP,” he stated.

“In all humility, I would like you to give me the opportunity to become one of the most impactful presidents in Ghana’s history. In me, you will have a brand-new, ‘tear-rubber’ President, not a second-hand failed President!” he emphasized.

The Vice-President also reiterated his promise to introduce a new tax regime, simplifying taxes to boost job creation in the country.

He outlined additional aspects of his vision, including introducing technological innovations in agriculture to ensure food security and jobs; transforming Ghana’s housing market; reforming the mining sector by focusing on value addition and Ghanaian ownership; and building a digital economy through training 1 million youth in IT skills.
