Justina Owusu Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister, has praised the significant achievements of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, highlighting the influential role of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in assisting President Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration. She emphasized that if Dr. Bawumia is entrusted with the presidency, he will transform Ghana’s narrative in remarkable ways, elevating it to a level “written on gold.” Madam Owusu Banahene made these remarks during the campaign launch of Alexander Ababio, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Tain, expressing confidence in the continuity of the NPP’s legacy under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.

One of the standout achievements Madam Owusu Banahene discussed was the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, which has provided access to quality education for hundreds of thousands of Ghanaian students who previously struggled with financial barriers. The Free SHS program has not only lifted the burden of school fees from parents but has also significantly increased enrollment rates across the country. She noted that this policy reflects the NPP’s commitment to inclusive development by investing in the youth and equipping them with the knowledge and skills needed for a brighter future.

Another notable accomplishment is the use of drones for medical supply delivery. This pioneering initiative, implemented in partnership with Zipline, has improved healthcare delivery across remote areas by providing quick access to essential medical supplies like blood, vaccines, and medicines. According to Madam Owusu Banahene, the initiative is revolutionizing healthcare in underserved communities, ensuring that no Ghanaian is left behind when it comes to access to life-saving resources. She lauded Dr. Bawumia’s instrumental role in championing such technology-driven solutions, which have a direct impact on people’s lives.

The Minister further highlighted the digitalization efforts spearheaded by the NPP government, with Dr. Bawumia as the lead advocate. Under this digital transformation agenda, initiatives like mobile money interoperability have been introduced, making it easier for Ghanaians to transfer funds seamlessly across different networks. This has promoted financial inclusion, allowing even those in rural areas to access banking and financial services without needing a traditional bank account. Madam Owusu Banahene explained that this effort is part of a broader vision to modernize Ghana’s economy and bring it on par with global digital standards.

In addition, the issuance of the Ghana Card as a national identification tool has been a cornerstone of the NPP’s digitalization policy. The Ghana Card is now not only a primary identification document but also a critical tool in streamlining access to public services. Dr. Bawumia’s vision for the Ghana Card extends to facilitating student loans for tertiary students without the need for guarantors. This initiative will ease the financial burden on students, helping them pursue higher education and acquire the skills needed for the job market.

Madam Owusu Banahene also touched on the emphasis placed on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education by the NPP government. Through investments in infrastructure and specialized learning resources, the government is working to prepare Ghanaian students to compete in a technology-driven world. STEM education, she noted, is essential to developing a skilled workforce that can contribute meaningfully to the nation’s socio-economic growth, fostering innovation, and creating sustainable solutions for Ghana’s future.

In conclusion, Madam Owusu Banahene urged the electorate to rally behind the NPP and Dr. Bawumia, arguing that he embodies the dedication and vision needed to elevate Ghana to new heights. She reiterated her belief that with Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, Ghana’s future could indeed be “written on gold,” paving the way for a prosperous nation with opportunities for all.

In a related turn of political developments, Bono Regional NPP Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye, has sung high praises for Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the party’s Vice Presidential Candidate for 2024, spotlighting his powerful impact on the Bono Region’s growth. Abronye highlighted Dr. Prempeh’s time as Education and Energy Minister, calling it a period of remarkable progress.

The Chairman noted that Dr. Prempeh, known popularly as “Napo,” has not only delivered in challenging roles but has consistently prioritized Bono’s needs. “Napo has proven time and again that he’s the man to trust with tough assignments.

From expanding school infrastructure and bringing electricity to underserved areas to fostering job opportunities, he’s touched lives here in Bono,” Abronye remarked.

Speaking at a vibrant durbar held in Duadaso, Jaman North, on November 4, 2024, Abronye expressed his optimism about Dr. Prempeh’s potential to bring even more transformation if he steps into the Vice President role. With local chiefs, MMDCEs, and NPP supporters gathered to welcome Dr. Bawumia’s running mate, Abronye emphasized that Dr. Prempeh’s dedication has elevated the party’s popularity across Bono.
