The Ghanaian media has been cautioned to ascribe to the professional ethics of their job by letting fairness and accuracy reflect in their reportage on the day of voting on December 7.

By so doing they would be contributing greatly to ensure peace in the country.

At a meeting with the Regional 2024 Election Security Task force on Monday, November 25, 2024 at the police headquarters in Sunyani, the Bono Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Gyamera Opoku, gave the caution as an intervention with the media.

According to him the December 7 general elections is crucial for the security and peace of the country and nothing untoward should take place to creat chaos and needless conflict to to disrupt the prevailing social tranquility.

“You the media will play a very crucial role in the general elections, there I urge you to be conscious of any reportage you put out to the public in order not to inflame passions to mar the peace we are enjoying in the country.”

DCOP Joseph Gyamera Opoku, said the police service has set up liaison officers for the media to seek clarification on issues so as to make their reportage more credible and authentic.

Furthermore, he asked members of the media to get the EC accreditation and go by its guidelines on the elections day to avoid security embarrassment of being blocked to access the voting centers.
