A beautiful moment occurred Friday during the Occupy Julorbi House protest as protestors defied Accra’s torrential rains to keep their protest ongoing.
Instead of being defeated by the rains and abandoning their protest, they decided to turn the venue into a sort of carnival atmosphere, ensuring they remained warm as the heavens hit them with its best shot.
The stunning moment, captured in several videos on social media, has gone viral.
Vibing to Banzy Banero’s ‘Hossana’, the protestors sang and danced in the rain, displaying their indomitable spirit in the face of immense challenges.

Interestingly, some social media users, probably too thick to grasp the significance of their defiance, criticised the protestors for turning their serious protest into a ‘jama session’.
On social media, it’s become common to see comments attacking the protestors and calling them unserious.
However, such commentors rather betray themselves as unserious, and not too bright, for failing to grasp that in the face of such immense difficulties, the protestors continued to remain undeterred.
That kind of defiance in not allowing the rain to stop them, no matter how it’s expressed, is a much better image than abandoning their protest due to rains or simply standing still whilst the rain beat down on them.
Things are hard, yes, and we continue to protest – but the image of protestors dancing in the rain shows that no matter what, the Ghanaian spirit would never be broken.
Those who fail to grasp this are frankly, just not smart enough to grasp symbolism.
