Tamale City coach Hamza Mohammed was overjoyed with his team’s performance in Wednesday’s match against Hearts of Oak, which saw them secure a resounding 4-1 victory.
The win puts them in a strong position to avoid relegation with just six games left to play in the league.
Speaking after the match, Mohammed expressed his excitement about what the win could mean for his team’s morale going forward. They face champions Asante Kotoko on Sunday.
“It’s going to be a big morale booster playing another big club. My boys should be motivated enough, recording a big win against Hearts and taking on Asante Kotoko again,” he said.
“We have to take it one match at a time, we are going to recover and then plan well and face Kotoko on Sunday.”
The win over Hearts of Oak was by far Tamale City’s best performance of the season, with Sampson Eduku scoring twice and Yahaya Mohammed and Isaac Mensah also getting on the scoresheet.
The victory puts them three points clear of the relegation zone, and Mohammed believes his team will be able to build on the momentum generated by their impressive showing.
“We are going to recover and then plan well for the remaining games,” he said.
