The Ghana women’s national football team have arrived in the United Arab Emirates ahead of the Pink Ladies Cup, as preparations intensify for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The team touched down in Dubai earlier this week and is expected to begin training sessions immediately as they fine-tune strategies for the four-nation tournament. The competition forms a key part of the technical team’s build-up plan toward the continental championship scheduled to be staged in Morocco.
Head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has assembled a blend of experienced players and new call-ups, with the tournament offering an opportunity to assess squad depth and tactical cohesion against international opposition.
Ghana will open their Pink Ladies Cup campaign against Hong Kong before taking on Russia and Tanzania in subsequent fixtures. The matches are expected to provide valuable competitive minutes and help the technical team evaluate combinations ahead of WAFCON.
Team officials say the tournament will serve as an important test of readiness, fitness levels and team chemistry as the Black Queens aim to make a strong impact on their return to Africa’s flagship women’s football competition.
