The Black Queens of Ghana are preparing for a challenging journey as they aim to qualify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Under the guidance of head coach Nora Hauptle, Ghana will face either Rwanda or Egypt in the second round of qualifiers. The second-round matches are scheduled to take place between October 20 and 28, 2025.
The qualification process began with 32 teams in the first round, but six top-ranked teams, including Ghana, were exempt from this stage due to their high FIFA rankings. These six teams—Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, Ghana, Cameroon, and Ivory Coast—will join the 16 first-round winners in the second round.
Only 11 teams will secure spots in the final tournament through this qualification process. The Black Queens are determined to be among the teams representing Africa on the big stage.
With the stakes high, Ghana will be aiming for a strong performance to solidify its position as one of the continent’s football powerhouses.
