The Black Starlets‘ technical team, led by Coach Stephen Frimpong Manso, will conclude their Southern sector player scouting exercise in the Greater Accra Region next week.

The initiative seeks to identify talented young players born after January 1, 2009, from across the region.

The scouting exercise will take place at three venues in Accra: the Tema Sports Stadium, Madina Astro Turf, and Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman.

The screening process involves a strategic selection exercise scheduled for April 22 to April 24, 2025, where promising young footballers will undergo a series of tests to assess their skills and abilities.

Top prospects from the screening will be shortlisted for the U17 National Team’s talent pool. The coaching staff is on the lookout for players with the potential to represent Ghana at the highest level and make a mark in international football.

The Southern sector scouting is part of a broader nationwide effort to discover talent. The Black Starlets’ technical team has already conducted similar exercises in Northern Ghana and the middle belt, covering regions such as Brong Ahafo, Northern, Upper East, Upper West, Ashanti, Western, and Western North. The exercise also made stops in Cape Coast, Koforidua, and Ho in the Eastern and Volta regions.

The initiative forms part of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) strategy to develop the next generation of Black Starlets players. It aims to identify and nurture young footballing talent, providing them with opportunities to hone their skills and potentially represent Ghana on the international stage.

The conclusion of the scouting programme in Greater Accra will mark the end of the Southern sector exercise. The coaching staff will then review the standout performers from across the country and select the top prospects for the U17 National Team’s development pool. These selected players will have the opportunity to refine their skills and vie for a place in future international competitions.
