Former Ghana assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko has advised the Black Stars coaches to consider using Mohammed Kudus as a false nine.
The midfielder is in the best form of his life after being used as a false striker in the last four games of Ajax, where he has scored in all those games.
The 22-year-old is now on a run of scoring in four consecutive games playing as a false striker after struggling for a starting berth in the first four games of the season with the Dutch champions.
On the back of the successful experiment, Ibrahim Tanko believes it is something the Ghana coaches can also utilize.
“Kudus is a very talented player. He can play in many positions. If you pair him with a holding midfielder, he can play as a no 8 and a striker,” he told Joy Sports.
“The technical team has a plan so let’s hope that all the boys stay fit so the technical team will have options to select from. [False 9] It’s one of the options the technical team can look at.”
Ghana will take on Brazil and Nicaragua in pre-World Cup friendlies on September 23 and 27, respectively.
