The Black Stars of Ghana are preparing for a tough challenge as they face Mali and the Central African Republic in a doubleheader scheduled for June 6th and June 10, 2024.
The first match will take place in Bamako, while the second match will be held in Kumasi. These games are highly anticipated, especially given the recent performance of the team on the global stage.

The Black Stars have had a rocky year, enduring a disappointing 2022 World Cup and a lackluster 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign. In a recent interview with GTV Sports Plus, Nel Armstrong-Mortagbe, the Head of Public Relations for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), shed some light on the situation.
He spoke about the team’s readiness and the return of coach Otto Addo, emphasising a renewed focus for the Black Stars as he also highlighted the long-term vision that Addo brings to the table, which is crucial for the team’s development.
“The team [the Black Stars] is ready. For us at the FA, we have themed it very quietly with a fresh start with Otto Addo,” Armstrong-Mortagbe stated.
Armstrong-Mortagbe further elaborated on the new approach that Addo is bringing to the Black Stars. According to him, Addo’s strategy is more focused on long-term growth than immediate results. This shift in perspective is intended to build a solid foundation for future successes.
“If you watch the tone of his presentation at the presser, his perspective is more long-term than short-term,” Armstrong-Mortagbe noted, indicating a strategic shift that could prove beneficial for the team’s future.
As the Black Stars gear up for these important fixtures, all hopes will be shifted to the fresh start project under Otto Addo’s leadership, marking the beginning of a new era for Ghanaian football.
