Bright Botchway, a prominent youth activist within Ghana’s most significant opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), emphasized the critical importance of combining ground-level campaigning with social media efforts to secure electoral victory.
Following a visibility exercise at Kasoa market with Awutu Senya East Parliamentary candidate Phyllis Naa Koryoo, Botchway cautioned against relying too much on social media to gauge electoral success. He stated, “While social media is vital for communication and mobilization, it can create a false sense of security. Victory cannot be assured without robust ground campaigns.”
Botchway underlined the importance of traditional campaign methods such as face-to-face interactions, community engagements, and addressing local issues to connect with voters effectively. As Deputy Director of the Traders and Artisans Network within the NDC’s National Youth Wing, he stressed the significance of grassroots mobilization and direct voter engagement, urging party supporters to actively participate in community activities, attend meetings, and engage with voters to ensure a comprehensive outreach strategy.
Botchway also emphasized the need to effectively communicate policies and plans while earning the trust and support of the electorate by demonstrating commitment to addressing their concerns. He highlighted unity as pivotal to electoral success, urging NDC members to work collaboratively towards achieving their goals.
In conclusion, Botchway called for a multifaceted approach as elections near, combining social media outreach with tangible actions on the ground and urging a balanced campaign strategy to secure victory for the NDC. His remarks underscore the complex nature of political campaigning and the strategic importance of grassroots efforts in Ghana’s upcoming elections.
