Political Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture and former Youth Leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Emmanuel Attafuah-Danso, has lauded Dr Bryan Acheampong’s commitment to youth development through job opportunities and personal development.
According to him, Agric Minister, Dr Bryan Acheampong’s long standing bond with the youth of the ruling New Patriotic Party is long documented over the years with numerous projects and polices to his name.
Emmanuel Attafuah-Danso, in a statement copied to this paper, documented the many achievements of Dr Bryan Acheampong.
He averred that as a Member of Parliament for Abetifi in the Eastern Region, thousands of students from Secondary/Technical to Tertiary levels from all backgrounds are awarded scholarships annually and that, teachers have also been rewarded annually with prizes ranging from cars, cash learning materials and many other assorted items.
He said upon assumption of office as the Minister of Food and Agriculture, one of his foremost programmes of Dr Bryan Acheampong was the launch of the Youth in Agriculture Programme (YIAP) in partnership with the Youth Employment Agency.
This programme he noted, is one of the foremost initiatives in the sector that motivates the youth to accept and appreciate farming as a commercial venture, thereby taking up farming as a lifetime vocation.
He stated that: “The Youth in Agriculture Programme has the objective of making the youth accept farming as a commercial business venture, generate appreciable income to meet farmers’ domestic and personal needs, improve the standard of living of the youth through improved income, motivate the youth to stay in rural areas, as inputs will be delivered at their farm gate, on credit basis and interest-free and to produce enough food crops, meat and fish using modern methods. With the elections likely to be decided by the Generation Z population, his connection to the youthful population would be an invaluable asset for the party”.
He said the Agric Minister’s outstanding leadership qualities has resulted in the transformation of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture since taking over as sector minister.
Considered as a major sector for the government’s transformation agenda, public warmth and perception was poor resulting in public backlash towards key programmes like Planting for Food and Jobs and the Fertilizer distribution of programme.
However, upon assuming, the ever dynamic Minister has reformed the PFJ with a more private sector focus, a step which has been endorsed by stakeholders in the agriculture value chain, and that the once important but derided ministry is now enjoying a new lease of life enjoying unprecedented public support, he narrated.
Emmanuel Attafuah-Danso also mentioned that Dr Bryan Acheampong possesses the capacity to deliver with dispatch; stressing that this is evident in the demonstration of his abilities of delivering when it matters most as an astute business mogul.
He said as Minister of state and Member of Parliament, Dr Bryan Acheampong has exhibited his God given ability of rising to the occasion when his talents are needed most.
“He also has great influence in Eastern region. Due to his selfless commitment to the cause of the party in Eastern Region and beyond, Dr Acheampong has endured to the rank and file of the NPP by his sheer dedication to the cause of the Danquah Busia Dombo tradition. In reverence for his unique standing in the party, Dr Acheampong has not been contested in parliamentary primaries in his beloved Abetifi constituency,” he said.
According to Emmanuel Attafuah-Danso, Dr Acheampong’s calm posture and networking acumen extends his influence beyond the region with his skills appreciated by actors in the political class and civil society groups.
“Throughout his business and political career, Dr Acheampong has demonstrated excellent academic credentials backed by unrivaled public speaking skills and heavenly endowed charisma. From his days at Achimota Primary School to the Presbyterian Boys Secondary School in Legon through Johnson and Wales University in the USA capping it with PhD in Information Systems at the University of Ghana, Dr Acheampong endeared himself to the admiration of course mates and lectures alike.”
He indicated that as an astute business executive, Dr Bryan Acheampong has the zeal for the Ghana agenda to succeed, adding that with investments in many sectors locally and abroad, Dr Acheampong has made his mark in technology and tourism.
He said: “His IT has footprints across all sectors notably the educational sector. His vision of leveraging on the huge and largely untapped tourism potential of Ghana culminated in the establishment of the now famous Rock City hotel in his home region, the largest hotel building in the West African sub region. The facility has become the center piece of the government’s monumental drive to make tourism a major driver of a modern Ghanaian economy.”
Emmanuel Attafuah-Danso posited that with these fine attributes, outstanding achievements, and solid credentials, many people have tipped him to climb higher on the political ladder of the Danquah-Busiah-Dombo tradition, saying that “BRYAN, connotes; Brilliance, Resolute, Youthful, Analytical and Nationalistic political colossus.
