The Burkina Faso Football Federation has reportedly opened discussions with experienced Ghanaian tactician James Kwesi Appiah over the possibility of appointing him as head coach of the senior mens national team.Sources close to the situation indicate that preliminary talks have taken place as the federation evaluates options to strengthen the technical leadership of the Stallions ahead of upcoming international assignments.The move underscores Burkina Fasos desire to bring in a seasoned African coach with proven experience at the highest level.Appiah is currently in charge of the Sudan national football team, where he has enjoyed a remarkable spell.The former Ghana boss guided Sudan to the knockout stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, exceeding expectations in a highly competitive tournament.In addition, Appiah led Sudan to the semi-finals of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), further enhancing his reputation as a coach capable of maximizing limited resources and building competitive squads.The 65-year-old previously made history by leading Ghana to the 2014 FIFA World Cup and overseeing multiple AFCON campaigns during his time with the Black Stars.Although discussions with Burkina Faso are believed to be at an exploratory stage, the development could spark a major coaching reshuffle in West African football if negotiations advance.Neither federation has officially confirmed the talks, but the coming weeks are expected to provide clarity on Appiahs future.
