Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe has concluded his visit to Morocco, meeting with officials and stakeholders following the controversy surrounding the AFCON final that awarded Morocco the championship.Motsepe met with Royal Moroccan Football Federation President Fouzi Lekjaa and other members of the country’s football community to discuss the ongoing dispute. The engagement was followed by a press conference in Rabat.Addressing the media, Motsepe reaffirmed CAF’s commitment to respecting the outcome of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, where Senegal has appealed the decision that stripped them of the 2025 AFCON title and handed it to Morocco.”Whatever the decision of CAS, we will respect it,” Motsepe said.Reflecting on his recent visit to Senegal, the CAF president emphasized unity and support for African teams regardless of the ongoing tensions.”The speech I gave yesterday in Senegal was to say to the people of Senegal: support Sadio Man, support Kalidou Koulibaly, support the national team. They will be representing the people of Senegal, and they will be representing the people of Africa. It’s the same message I am taking to the other eight national teams.”Motsepe’s diplomatic tour comes at a critical time, with Senegal having called for an international investigation into suspected corruption within CAF following the controversial ruling. The CAS appeal remains pending, and Motsepe’s message to both nations is clear: respect the process, support the teams, and move forward.
