Grief has engulfed a lot of Ghanaians following the tragic plane crash in Tema on March 16, 2026, which claimed the lives of two individuals, including experienced Ghanaian pilot Frank Paa Kwesi Donkor Junior.
The incident occurred at Oninku Park at Site 17 in Tema Community 1 when a light aircraft with registration 9G-ADV crashed while en route from Ho to Accra.
According to the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, the aircraft was expected to arrive at its destination at 15:20 GMT but made its last radio contact at 14:18 GMT before the crash.
Captain Donkor, who had over 15 years of aviation experience, died alongside his younger brother, Elijah Nana Yaw Donkor, who was on board the flight.
Elijah Donkor was reported to be a recent university graduate and a fish farmer.
The two brothers are sons of Elder Frank Donkor, the leader of the Hebron Prayer Camp. Within the family, Captain Donkor was the firstborn, while Elijah was the thirdborn.
The tragedy has been made even more heartbreaking by revelations that Captain Donkor had only gotten married about three months before the fatal accident.
A resurfaced wedding video of the late pilot has since gone viral on social media, drawing emotional reactions from many Ghanaians who are mourning the loss.
The incident has sparked widespread mourning, with many paying tribute to the late pilot’s professionalism and years of service in the aviation industry.
Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations into the cause of the crash as the nation continues to grieve the loss of the two brothers.
