The second week of the federal trial against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been marked by disturbing and detailed testimony from singer and model Cassie Ventura, who prosecutors describe as both a victim and a pivotal figure in an alleged sex trafficking and abuse operation orchestrated by Combs.

Prosecutors used Cassie’s testimony to outline what they claim is a structured and deliberate enterprise with Combs at the helm. Cassie was portrayed as a central figure who allegedly coordinated the travel of multiple escorts across the United States.

Jurors were presented with text messages and communications showing a network that moved women between cities including New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Las Vegas—hallmarks of what prosecutors say constitutes sex trafficking and prostitution under federal law.

According to her account, Cassie was responsible for making bookings and arrangements on Combs’ instructions, with a number of individuals allegedly involved in the scheme. These included a woman known as KK and a close friend and bodyguard referred to in court as D-Rock. Testimony indicated that the operation involved at least 15 named escorts, who were repeatedly flown across state lines to meet Combs and his associates.

Beyond the trafficking allegations, the testimony delved into a pattern of psychological manipulation, threats, and severe physical violence. Jurors were shown exclusive photographs of Cassie’s injuries, which included a visibly swollen lip and a deep gash on her head. These images were not released to the public but were displayed to the jury and to Cassie herself during the trial. She reportedly sought private medical care from a plastic surgeon in an effort to keep the abuse hidden from the public.

Details emerged of coercive tactics involving explicit “freak-off” videos that were allegedly used to control and blackmail her. Screenshots from the videos were submitted as evidence, but the full videos were withheld out of concern for the victims’ psychological well-being and to prevent media leaks.

The court also heard claims about Cassie’s deteriorating physical health during her time with Combs. Reports of persistent urinary tract infections that had become antibiotic-resistant were cited, along with physical damage resulting from frequent sexual encounters. Oral sores were also mentioned, further highlighting the physical toll of the alleged abuse.

The trial took an even darker turn with the inclusion of an incident involving rapper Kid Cudi. Cassie described a time when her attempt to quietly date Cudi was met with a threat from Combs, who allegedly planned to blow up Cudi’s car. The timeline presented in court indicated a tense confrontation over the matter, during which Combs is said to have denied knowledge of the threat. Records suggest that Cassie had met Cudi shortly after leaving one of the so-called “freak-off” sessions.

Throughout the testimony, family members—specifically her husband and brother—were present in court, while her parents were not seen. Observers noted her husband’s stoic demeanour as extremely sensitive details about Cassie’s past were aired in open court.

Despite having previously reached a $20 million settlement with Combs, Cassie proceeded with her testimony. The original settlement amount had been requested after she submitted a manuscript detailing her experiences to Combs’ team, which, according to court proceedings, had dismissed the account. The decision to testify came after what was described as a prolonged period of guilt and emotional reckoning, with further revelations indicating a prior suicide attempt linked to the trauma she experienced.

In one of the more emotionally gripping moments of the testimony, Cassie recounted an incident that allegedly took place during what she described as a “cordial” phase in her relationship with Diddy, following their separation. According to her, the two had remained in occasional contact, checking in on one another. At one point, they agreed to meet for dinner. Cassie described the evening as “fun” and intended it as a form of closure. However, she alleged that after Diddy accompanied her back to her apartment, he raped her on the floor of her home.

Despite the incident, Cassie admitted to seeing him again in the weeks that followed. At the time, she was reportedly dating her now-husband Alex Fine, though not exclusively. The prosecution has placed significant emphasis on this period, especially as it ties into further allegations of coercion and blackmail.

Text messages revealed in court show Diddy allegedly demanding money from Cassie, claiming he had funded Alex Fine’s services as her personal trainer and now wanted reimbursement. These texts also contained veiled threats, with Diddy reportedly referencing compromising videos stored on tablets and laptops, content Cassie confirmed referred to recordings from what she called “freak-off” sessions.

When questioned about how she could have re-engaged with Diddy after such trauma, Cassie explained the emotional complexities of a 10-year relationship, saying, “If you love somebody for over 10 plus years, you can’t just let that go.”

The court also heard of an incident in which Cassie was allegedly beaten so severely that she couldn’t check into a hotel due to the visible injuries. Instead, she hid at Diddy’s residence, where he reportedly told her to apply more makeup, stating, “My sons are here. I don’t want them to see you like this.” She then sought refuge at the home of D-Rock—Diddy’s head of security—and his wife. According to her, both D-Rock and another staff member, J. Crews, were visibly emotional upon seeing her condition.

Despite support from those around her, Cassie admitted she returned to Diddy the very next day. The prosecution underscored this pattern of abuse and return to highlight the psychological control they argue was central to the alleged trafficking and coercion enterprise.

Legal experts suggest that while the prosecution is constructing a compelling case built around clear patterns of behavior, evidence, and witness testimony, the defence is likely to face significant challenges. Any attempt to discredit Cassie’s credibility risks reinforcing the narrative of control and exploitation central to the charges.

With more witnesses scheduled to appear, and further revelations expected, the case against Sean Combs continues to draw intense public scrutiny.
