Central University has launched a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme aimed at developing transformational leaders capable of addressing complex organisational challenges and shaping the future of business and governance.
The three-year professional doctoral programme was officially launched at the university’s Central University Abossey Okai Campus on Thursday, March 5.
Launching the programme, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Kwasi Dartey-Baah, described the initiative as a major milestone in the university’s quest to promote academic excellence and leadership development.
“Today marks a defining moment for Central University. We are not merely introducing a new academic programme; we are launching a bold vision for leadership, scholarship, and transformation in business and society,” he said.
According to Prof. Dartey-Baah, the programme is designed for senior executives, entrepreneurs and policy leaders who seek to deepen their strategic leadership capabilities while contributing practice-driven research to address real-world organisational problems.
“In a rapidly changing global environment where organisations face unprecedented complexity, leaders are required not only to manage institutions but to transform them,” he noted.
The Vice-Chancellor explained that the DBA programme will produce scholar–practitioners who combine professional experience with rigorous research to generate innovative solutions to contemporary business and governance challenges.
The programme will offer three specialised tracks: Strategic Leadership and Organisational Transformation, Financial and Corporate Governance, and Digital Business and Marketing Innovation.
Students enrolled in the programme will receive advanced training in research methods, data analytics, strategic leadership and executive decision-making, while undertaking applied research aimed at addressing pressing challenges in modern organisations.
Prof. Dartey-Baah emphasised that the programme seeks to develop thought leaders and change agents capable of strengthening corporate governance, transforming institutions and driving technological innovation across industries.
“These leaders will contribute meaningfully to positioning Ghana and Africa more boldly within the global knowledge economy,” he added.
He encouraged prospective candidates to view the programme as a transformational journey that will challenge established thinking and generate insights that make organizations more innovative, ethical, resilient and globally competitive.
The launch reflects Central University’s continued commitment to providing industry-relevant education and developing leaders who can drive Africa’s economic and institutional transformation.
