Popular Ghanaian socialite and Chez Amis restaurant owner, Belinda has publicly denied claims linking her to a recent high-profile arrest carried out by the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC).
Her response follows revelations made by NACOC’s Deputy Director in charge of Enforcement, Control and Elimination, Alexander Twum-Barimah, Esq., during an interview with Saddick Adams on Angel TV on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
During the interview, Twum-Barimah disclosed that the Commission had arrested a manager of a popular packaged food brand for allegedly attempting to smuggle illicit substances out of the country.
According to him, the suspect, whose identity has not yet been officially released concealed the illicit substances in a consignment of packaged gari (dried cassava flakes) intended for export.
The Deputy Director stated that NACOC officers tracked the suspect’s operations for some time before arresting him at the Kotoka International Airport, just before the shipment could leave Ghana.

Another individual is reportedly in custody in connection with the case, while management of the food packaging brand involved has been invited to NACOC headquarters to assist with investigations.
Despite persistent questioning, Twum-Barimah declined to mention the brand’s name but described it as “hugely popular and widely used by Ghanaians daily.” Authorities say investigations are ongoing to determine whether a larger syndicate may be involved.
Following the interview, speculation spread rapidly across social media platforms, with some bloggers and netizens alleging that Chez Amis is the individual behind the arrest.
In a self-recorded video shared on her Snapchat page, Chez Amis dismissed the allegations and denied ever being arrested in connection with the case.
The video showed her at the premises of her East Legon-based restaurant as she addressed the rumours.
“Me, I hate nonsense. I hate foolish things. I hate stupidity. Let me even take off my sunglasses so that you don’t even come and say it is AI that is talking. When you look at this, where am I at?” she said, pointing to her surroundings to demonstrate that she was not in police custody.
In subsequent Snapchat posts, she shared additional footage from her restaurant in an apparent effort to further disprove the circulating claims and distance herself from the matter.
