The Ministry of Health is making efforts to secure adequate stock of vaccines within the next few weeks.

Speaking in Accra at an emergency News briefing in Accra, the Minister of Health, Kweku Agyemang Manu said government is not owing the vaccine suppliers as being speculated in the public domain.

He also debunked cases of reported measles death as a result of the vaccine shortage.

The Ministry of Health has been concerned about the shortage of some childhood vaccines and their effect on the vaccination program in the country.

The Minister, Kweku Agyemang Manu said there have been vaccine shortage in the country since the last quarter of 2022.

He mentioned the vaccines in short supply as BCG, Measles-Rubella and polio vaccines which are nationwide.

He said the recent shortage in vaccines is attributed to the symptomatic in steadfast global decline in measles vaccination since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma Aboagye explained the current cases across the country.
