Citi FM on Saturday, July 27 honoured the best graduating student in broadcast journalism at the Ghana Institute of Journalism (GIJ).
Nimo Kwasi Jnr was awarded the best student in Broadcast Journalism for topping his class for the 2018/2019 academic year.
1,290 students who studied Journalism and Public Relations programmes graduated over the weekend with Degree and Diploma certificates.
The ceremony, which was the thirteenth of the communication institution, falls within its 60 years anniversary celebration.
821 students were honoured with degrees while 469 received diploma certificates.
The Rector of GIJ, Professor Kwamena Kwansah-Aidoo, announced that the Institute would soon introduce an Investigative Journalism programme.
This he says is expected to complement the efforts of investigative journalists, who are very few in the country.
Professor Kwansah-Aidoo addressing graduands and guests last Saturday said the 2019 batch of students was a group full of prospects for the industry.
“They are poised to make an important contribution to the communication industry specifically, and to the nation as a whole.”
