Head of News at Citi FM and Channel One TV,  Nana Tuffour Boateng has cautioned bloggers, content creators, and paparazzi to respect personal privacy even within public spaces.

Speaking on Channel One  TV’s Breakfast Daily on Thursday January  8, he expressed concern over the growing trend of bloggers going beyond ethical boundaries in the pursuit of clicks, views, and online engagement.

He noted that some content creators now record and publish every detail of people’s lives without regard for consent or personal dignity.

According to him, the fact that an individual appears at a public event does not automatically strip them of their right to privacy. “Public events don’t cancel personal privacy,” he emphasised.

Boateng stressed that while journalists and bloggers have a responsibility to inform the public, that duty must be balanced with respect for ethical standards.

He urged media practitioners, especially bloggers and paparazzi, to avoid invasive recordings, protect private conversations, and exercise sound judgment when creating and publishing content.

He further warned that reckless content creation not only harms individuals but also undermines the credibility of the media and digital publishing space. Responsible journalism, he said, requires discipline, integrity, and respect for boundaries.
