Ghanaian comedian, Foster Owusu Amponsah, professionally known as Foster Romanus, has shared insights into the financial state of the comedy industry, revealing that the craft is now paying better than before.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio, the award-winning comedian was asked whether comedy is financially rewarding in Ghana.
Responding to the question, he stated, “Currently, comedy is paying. We are yet to get to a point where we can buy a yellow Lamborghini,” suggesting that while the industry has improved, earnings have not yet reached extremely high levels.
Foster Romanus further explained that his charges for performances vary depending on the nature of the event and the client involved. According to him, he does not have a fixed rate for gigs.

“It could be 20k, 30k, or 50 or even 100k, depending on who is coming,” he stated.
His comments highlight the growing recognition and value of comedy in Ghana’s entertainment space, even though many comedians are still working towards achieving higher financial rewards comparable to global standards.
