Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu on Monday, March 30, 2026, received a high-powered delegation from the palace of the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Abubakari II, at his residence.
The visit, initiated at the personal directive of the Ya-Naa, was a significant gesture of goodwill aimed at inquiring about the minister’s health and recovery after his recent major road accident.
Leading the delegation was the Paramount Chief of Zangbalun, Naa Dr. Yakubu Mahama, who conveyed a message from the Dagbon overlord. The message highlighted the Ya-Naa’s deep concern for Haruna Iddrisu’s well-being and his critical role in national development, especially in the education sector.
According to the statement, the Ya-Naa urged the minister to prioritise his health, stressing that “Ghana’s children need their Education Minister well and focused.”
He also expressed gratitude to God for sparing the minister’s life and offered prayers for his continued protection and speedy recovery.
The visit underscored the strong cultural values of compassion, unity, and leadership within the Dagbon Kingdom, while highlighting the enduring role of traditional authorities in promoting social cohesion and national support.
In response, Haruna Iddrisu expressed profound appreciation to the Ya-Naa and the delegation for the thoughtful visit. He described it as a powerful demonstration of solidarity, compassion, and goodwill during his period of recovery.
Haruna Iddrisu was involved in a road traffic accident on the Bolgatanga–Tumu Road in February 2026, alongside Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital Technology, Mohammed Adams Sukparu. He was discharged from the 37 Military Hospital after receiving treatment.
